The Dr. Bawumia Kayayei Skills Empowerment Programme is truly making a difference in the lives of young women in Ghana's informal workforce. Launched by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, this initiative aims to equip female porters, or "kayayei," with the skills and resources needed to build sustainable livelihoods ¹.

The program offers specialized training in six areas:

- __Soap and Detergent Making__

- __Baking__

- __Beads and Jewelry Making__

- __Decor__

- __Pedicure and Manicure__

- __Makeup Artistry__

This training not only provides these women with a means to earn a living but also empowers them to pursue their professional goals and become self-reliant. Each graduate receives a tailored starter pack for their chosen skill area, along with a stipend to support their entrepreneurial start.

The sixth cohort's graduation marks a significant milestone for the program, and it's inspiring to hear the beneficiaries' stories of transformation. Many have expressed their desire to move beyond the traditional kayayei role and establish independent businesses.

By providing these women with the tools and resources needed to succeed, the Dr. Bawumia Kayayei Skills Empowerment Programme is helping to lift them from economic vulnerability to self-reliance ¹.
