"Nana Yaa Jantuah: This time, NPP can't use insults to gain power. Give us what you're coming to do."

The former General Secretary of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Akyempem Jantuah, has sparked controversy by advocating for the declaration of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's seat vacant, as reported by onuaonline.

Jantuah asserts that Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer, has renounced his vice presidential obligations and failed to carry them out successfully.

She discussed a petition that was submitted to Parliament in an interview with TV3's NewDay, during which she made these statements. With an emphasis on MPs who have either allied themselves with another political party or intend to run as independents, the petition asks for the declaration of specific parliamentary seats vacant. Jantuah thinks this petition should also include the Vice President.

Jantuah claims that Bawumia's resignation from his position is to blame for the difficulties the administration is currently facing. She berated the government for not resolving the problems inside and instead turning to opposition figures like John Dramani Mahama for answers. Jantuah said,

"President Akufo-Addo is reaching out to the opposition for ideas because the Vice President is not offering any substantive solutions."

The seats of Suhum MP Kwadwo Asante, Amenfi Central MP Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah, and Agona West MP Cynthia Morrison are already being pushed for to be declared vacant by the Minority in Parliament.

Additionally, they contend that the Independent MP's choice to run for the NPP in the 2024 elections warrants the vacating of the Fomena seat.

Jantuah, who claims that the constitution is the cornerstone of the country, objected to the NPP's handling of the matter and charged that the party was disregarding it. She questioned why, in her capacity as the NPP's presidential candidate, Bawumia had not offered a detailed strategy to address important matters such as illicit mining (galamsey).

Jantuah stressed in her harsh criticism that the NPP must provide substantiated answers. She asserted, "You cannot use insults to gain power." Asking, "Where is he?" she pushed former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, the one who initiated the petition, to include the Vice President's office in the list of seats to be declared empty.
