One of the employees of a small-scale mining firm, Bukom Banku, who works as a delivery man, was dispatched in March 2024 to transport gold valued at over 800,000 cedis to a gold buyer in Manso-Adubia. But to their astonishment, Bukom Banku was able to vanish with the wealth, and attempts to contact him by phone were unsuccessful.
An employee of the company was tipped off earlier this month by a tourist who saw him in Bawku, the hometown of his father. After warning the police and banding together, the workers were able to apprehend him in Bawku.
Subsequent inquiries showed that Bukom Banku had purchased two brand-new motorcycles and two brand-new tricycles for a local transportation company using a portion of the gold's revenues.
He also utilized a portion of the funds to construct a modest, doable home nearby. Nearly half of the gold's total earnings were recovered by the police.
