Although St. Theresa's Hostel at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been formally closed, according to Rent Commissioner Frederick Opoku, students are still allegedly using the space unlawfully. He claims that some students have refused to leave the hostel despite its official closure, creating grave concerns about safety, adherence to, and enforcement of housing standards within the university community.Speaking about the matter, Mr. Opoku expressed concern over the state of affairs and emphasized that students could be exposed to serious risks if they continue to occupy the closed facility, particularly if the closure was related to structural, safety, or regulatory issues. He pointed out that although the closure decision has already been relayed by the appropriate authorities, implementation has proven difficult because some residents continue to disobey the order.
