The sudden and tragic death of iconic highlife musician Dada Kwaku Duah, better known by his stage name Dada KD, has left the Ghanaian entertainment world in mourning.

Asaase Radio broke the heartbreaking news first on Friday, May 16, 2025, and family sources confirmed the musician's death.

Award-winning Ghanaian blogger and YouTuber Zionfelix contacted Nana Romeo, host of Accra FM's mid-morning show, one of Dada KD's closest friends, to confirm the rumors after they surfaced.

Regretfully, Nana Romeo attested to the veracity of the information. He disclosed that as soon as he heard the news, he called Dada KD's manager. To his surprise, the manager sobbed and acknowledged the terrible loss.

Nana Romeo revealed that on Thursday, May 15, 2025, the day before Dada KD's death, he had gone with him to the UK Embassy to assist in obtaining a visa for the deceased musician.

On May 25, 2025, Dada KD was supposed to visit the UK to play at the Hip-life and Hi-life Legends in London concert.

Dada KD was thrilled about the occasion, according to Nana Romeo, and they want to visit the embassy again on Friday, May 16, to complete the visa procedure.

Sadly, things took a sharp and disastrous turn on the morning of May 16.

Nana Romeo claims that when Dada KD's manager visited his house, the artist was having trouble speaking. They hurried him to the Gbawe Government Hospital in alarm, but after a few hours of treatment, the physicians declared him dead.

Nana Romeo says that the fact that Dada KD had not displayed any symptoms of sickness before his unexpected collapse makes the situation even more tragic. Romeo stated that the reason we are all so surprised is because he wasn't ill.

However, the well-known radio host pointed out that the singer had been complaining about the Ghanaian music industry's subpar royalty system and financial difficulties lately.

Known for classic singles like Odo Mu Anigye, Somgye, and Ebeboawo, the highlife icon had a multi-decade career and was praised for his soft vocals and love ballads.

He is still regarded as a legendary figure in Ghanaian music, having earned the Best Male Vocal Artist title at the 2004 Ghana Music Awards UK.

The loss of a truly iconic voice has left Dada KD's fans, friends, and coworkers reeling from the devastating blow of his demise.
