The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region's Communications Officer, Abass Nurudeen, has denied claims made by journalist Ohemaa Benz that President John Mahama is indifferent to the Free Senior High School (SHS) program, according to GhanaWeb.

Known for her critical views of Mahama, Ohemaa Benz, a communicator with Agyapa TV, is charged with trying to damage his character in order to forward the goals of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Ghanaians should disregard Benz's remarks, Abass Nurudeen said in a public statement, calling them a distortion of Mahama's intentions.

Ohemaa Benz expressed her opinions on the Free SHS policy in a video, but NPP supporters were misrepresenting it to suggest it mirrored Mahama's administration's position, the NDC said.

Benz was also described in the statement as an outspoken critic of Mahama and the NDC, citing her involvement in El Lizato's Atene show.

Her comments were branded by the NDC as an NPP propaganda.

Furthermore, the statement reiterated Mahama's commitment to enhancing the Free SHS program, stressing his goal of making it more efficient and available to all Ghanaian pupils.

Parents of senior high school students should not put pressure on President Mahama over the Free SHS policy, according to Ohemaa Benz, who previously stated that it is not one of his priorities.

Rather than giving the Free SHS plan priority, she contended that Mahama is more concerned with creating a 24-hour economy.
