There has been news of the tragic death of Afia Dedaa Osae-Atuah, a third-year geography student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in a traffic accident. She was reportedly traveling to town to fix her laptop when she was struck by a fast commercial vehicle, frequently referred to as a "trotro."

Every member of the university community is in tremendous shock and grief following the horrific occurrence. Both her teachers and students characterized Afia Dedaa as a kind and industrious young woman with a promising future.

The trotro allegedly struck her after veering off the road, causing the collision. According to witnesses, she was severely injured and did not survive.

Road safety and the risks students confront when navigating the campus and its environs have come up in discussions sparked by this tragic news.

Only a few months have passed after another KNUST student tragedy, and this devastating news follows. At Lake Bosomtwe, a student drowned while out with pals in that occasion.

Many students and parents are very concerned about the frequent deaths of young people, and they are urging authorities to improve safety measures.

The school has not yet released a statement about the incident to the public. Many pupils, however, have paid tribute to Afia Dedaa and expressed their sorrow on social media. People are sharing their happy memories of Afia Dedaa, and messages like "RIP Afia Dedaa" are trending.

A memorial event honoring her life is anticipated to be held by the student body and the university community. Students are pleading with the local government to increase traffic safety near the school in order to stop such incidents in the future.
