The statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, which stands at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout in Sekondi, Western Region, has been entirely vandalised.
This is the second occurrence of damage to the monument, which was unveiled to commemorate the previous president's efforts during his presidency.
The first instance of vandalism happened on December 16, 2024, when unidentified persons damaged the statue's leg. Authorities promptly rebuilt the statue, but no arrests were made in connection with the event, leaving concerns regarding the attackers' motivations unresolved.
The latest attack occurred less than a week after Akufo-Addo left office as president, and the statue has now been completely demolished.
The statue was created during Akufo-Addo's presidency to represent his administration's dedication to improving healthcare and infrastructure in the Western Region.
Its location near the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital served as a reminder of the former president's administration efforts to improve access to medical care and resources in neglected areas.
