The government's attempts to upgrade the nation's healthcare system have reached a major turning point with the commissioning of four 40-bed district hospitals in the Ashanti Region by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The Drobonso, Sabronum, Twedie, and Suame hospitals are a part of a bigger project that aims to build a polyclinic in the Brong Ahafo region and 12 hospitals in the Ashanti, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions. Beginning in 2020, the project was made feasible by a €71,500,000 facility obtained by Česká Spořitelna a.s. and Erste Group Bank AG.

The hospitals, which were built by Austrian company VAMED Engineering GmbH, provide modern amenities like a public health department, an outpatient department, a theater, and housing for hospital staff.

The President has now commissioned eight hospitals in the Ashanti area, including the four that were just commissioned. The Fomena and Kumawu District Hospitals, which were built as part of the same project, were also put into service by President Akufo-Addo in a similar event.

The hospitals are built to offer locals in the corresponding districts high-quality medical care.

A public health department with a 36-seater waiting room, three antenatal consultation rooms, a counseling room, and two offices for public health officers, an outpatient department with consultation rooms and a waiting area, and a theater with one surgical suite, eight pediatric wards, eight male wards, eight female wards, four labor delivery stations, eight maternity wards, four lying-in rooms, and two recovery rooms are all included in each hospital.

In order to fulfill the government's pledge to enhance healthcare infrastructure and improve the health of all citizens of the nation, President Akufo-Addo asked the personnel and local residents to make sure the facilities are properly managed and maintained.
