Abla Dzifa Gomashie is a distinguished Ghanaian actress, producer, screenwriter, and politician.
She currently serves as the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Ketu South Constituency and holds the honorary title of queen-mother in the Aflao Traditional Area.
Gomashie has made significant contributions to the arts and public service, including her role as the current Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
Political Career:
• Deputy Minister of Tourism (2013-2017): Appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, she served as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture until the NDC lost the elections in 2017.
• 2020 General Election: Gomashie contested the primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on August 24, 2019, securing the nomination to represent the Ketu South constituency in the 2020 elections.

Education:
Born to Patrick Dotse Gomashie and Helen Gomashie in Accra, Gomashie hails from Aflao in the Volta Region.
She completed her secondary education at St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi.
She furthered her studies at the University of Ghana, earning a diploma in Theatre Arts, a bachelor's degree in Theatre Management, and an MPhil in African Studies from the Institute of African Studies.
Career in the Arts:
Gomashie began her acting career in 1985 with the Talents Theatre Company. She has appeared in various notable plays, including "Black Star," "Mambo," "Chaka the Zulu," "Jogolo," and "The Third Woman."
Her film credits include "Ghost Tears," "House of Pain," and "Heart of Gold," along with several productions by National Arts and Film Television Institute (NAFTI) students.
In addition to acting, she has worked as a scriptwriter and produced the educational program "By The Fireside" for GTV, aimed at promoting reading among children.
However, the program is currently on hold due to a lack of sponsorship. Gomashie previously owned and operated a restaurant called 'Mama's Kitchen' in Ashale Botwe, though it is no longer in operation.

Tenure:
As of February 2026, Abla Dzifa Gomashie has served as the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts for approximately one year and one month, having been nominated by President John Dramani Mahama on January 16, 2025.
She was officially approved by Parliament as the substantive Minister on January 23, 2025, following her vetting on January 22, 2025.
Her formal responsibilities commenced on February 4, 2025, when she held initial leadership meetings, including with the Ghana Tourism Authority.
Through her diverse experiences in both the arts and politics, Gomashie continues to impact Ghanaian culture and society significantly.
