170,000 Ghanaians employed under 1D1F - Finance minister

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has said one of the government's flagship programmes, One District One Factory (1D1F), has employed a total of 170,000 Ghanaians.

According to him, 321 factories have been supported across 142 districts in the country, thereby creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.

He noted that the government aims to attract new investments, expand job creation, and enhance value addition in the trade and industry sector.

Dr. Amin Adam said, "Mr. Speaker, under the Trade and Industry sector, we are committed to providing targeted support to the pharmaceutical, textiles and garment, as well as the automotive industries. Our efforts aim to attract new investments, expand job creation, and enhance value addition."

"Under our 1D1F flagship initiative, we have supported 321 factories across 142 districts nationwide, creating jobs for about 170,000 Ghanaians," the Minister of Finance said during the 2024 mid-year budget presentation in Parliament on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched the One District One Factory on August 25, 2017, at Ekumfi in the Central Region.

He then cut the sod for the commencement of the Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Limited.

1D1F seeks to establish factories in all districts across the country to boost local production.
