Tema, Aug. 20, - The Tema circuit tribunal yesterday ordered the police to investigate an allegation by an accused person about how she was released from custody by a police corporal and how he passed the night with her in a hotel. Major Jacob Yaw Abobor (rtd), the chairman, gave the order when Grace Anafo, unemployed, who was before the tribunal on a charge of escaping from lawful custody, alleged that it was one Corporal Prah, who released her from custody. She was granted 100,000 cedis bail with one surety to re-appear on September one. Grace told the tribunal that when she was granted bail on a charge of stealing, she had no one to bail her, so the police sent her to the Community Four police station where she was detained. ''The corporal brought my dress and asked me to follow him, and on the way, he asked if I have anyone to sign my bail bond. I replied in the negative after which he proposed love to me". Grace said she then accompanied Corporal Prah to a hotel at site seven, community one ''where he booked a room and I slept with him, after that, we came out and he asked me to go home and to report at the court on Monday,'' the accused said. ''I was at home when a police woman came to hold me by my waist and arrested me and sent me to the community four police station''. Inspector Alice Gyamfi, prosecuting, told the tribunal that the accused who was granted bail on July 27, was escorted to the community four police station and detained at the charge office. She was allowed to get in touch with someone to bail her. The prosecution said Grace took advantage of this and escaped from custody. All efforts to trace her proved futile until August 14, when the police, acting on a tip-off, arested her at site five.
