Fourteen women win seats in parliamentary elections

Fourteen women have won seats in the 198 constituencies declared on Sunday by the Electoral Commission. Both the NDC and the NPP had seven each.

There were three from the Western Region - Angelina Baiden Amissah (NPP-Shama); Gladys Asmah (NPP-Takoradi); and Gifty Eugenia Kwofie (NPP-Tarkwa-Nsuaem).


Four from the Central Region - Christine Churcher (NPP-Cape Coast); Comfort Owusu (NDC-Mfantseman East); Hannah Tetteh-Kpodar (NDC-Awutu-Senya); and Ama Benyiwa-Doe (NDC-Gomoa West).


Greater Accra had two - Naa Afieye Ashong (NDC-Kpone-Katamanso) and Theresa Tagoe (NPP-Ablekuma South).

Volta region had one - Akua Sena Dansua (NDC- North Dayi) and the Northern Region also had one - Mary Salifu Boforo (NDC-Savelugu).


Ashanti region had two - Theresa Baggoe (NDC-New Edubiase), and Grace Coleman (NPP-Effiduase-Asokore) while Brong Ahafo had one - Anna Nyamekye(NPP-Jaman).
