Moslem Women's Day Observed

A seminar to mark Women's Day in the Islamic religion has been held in Accra. the day also marks the birthday of Fatuma Zahrah, a daughter of the Prophet Mohammad. Islamic Nations all over the world observe the day as "Mothers' and Women's Day". The seminar was under the theme, "The role of Women and the Family in Human Development". In an address, an Assistant Director at the Ghana Education Service, Hajia Katumi Mahama, said women as moral educators must help the youth to rediscover and develop their talents to the full. She advised parents to inculcate in their children good moral values, so that they will live by such values when they grow up. In a message, the Upper East Deputy Regional Minister, Hajia Fati Seidu, said it is high time women changed their past perceptions about their role in society. She said, since the teaches equality between men and women any misconception that women are inferior to men should be erased completely. Moslem women must, therefore wake up and live by the teachings of the Holy Quoran and face the challenges of the times.
