Chief appeals for development for area

Nana Atta Yaw Kwaakwa, Mankralo and Acting Patron of the Coaltar Traditional Area, has appealed to the government to provide the area with social amenities and infrastructure to promote development.

He expressed worry that roads in the area were bad thereby impeding economic activities, and asked President John Mahama to fulfill his promises to the people of Coaltar.

Nana Kwaakwa made the appeal through Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Eastern Regional Minister, when she called on the chief as part of her familiarization tour of the Ayensuano District, in the Eastern Region, on Monday.

The chief appealed to the authorities to come to the aid of the Coaltar Presbyterian Senior High Technical School to enhance teaching and learning.

He said the school needed portable water, administration block, dormitories, and bungalows, which compels teachers to commute from Nsawam to the school to teach.

Nana Kwaakwa appealed to the government to supply the district police with a patrol vehicle to enable them to effectively fight crime, and called for the expansion of the clinic to improve health delivery.

He said: “we, however, want to use this occasion to express our gratitude to the government for giving us a district. It is our fervent wish that development is fast-tracked in this district”.

Mr Mike Ofori Darko, District Chief Executive for Ayensuano, said the assembly was sourcing funds to conserve natural resource in the area, to serve as a tourist attraction to generate more income.
