According to THE INDEPENDENT, ten months to Election 2004 is certainly a long journey down the tortuous and sometimes unpredictable political path such that it is not easy for anybody to easily forecast whether President John Kufuor will hand over to himself or any of his competitors, notable among them Prof. Mills, the flagberearer of the main opposition group, the NDC.

However, an Internet-based poll conducted by Ghanaweb, although it might not altogether reflect the reality of voter opinion, places President Kufuor in a leading position as the most likely candidate to win and thus get re-elected to a second term.

A September 15-20, 2003 Ghanaweb poll with the question: DO YOU THINK PRESIDENT KUFUOR DESERVES TO BE RE-ELECTED OR TIME FOR SOMEONE NEW? Which received a total of 2,252 responses had 62.2% of them Voting President Kufuor for re-election.

When the paper talked to some political analysts they were of the view that figure could be a mirror image of the possibility in the general elections that will come off this year.
