EU Projects for Ga District Assembly

Six European Union (EU) Projects would be executed in the Ga District, Mr Samuel Nii Aryeetey Attoh, District Chief Executive (DCE) has announced. Speaking at the final sitting of the assembly at Amasaman on Wednesday, Mr Attoh said the Micro-Project Management Unit had given approval and financial support for the smooth take-off of the projects.

He listed them as the construction and completion of a nursery block at Dedeiman, the construction and completion of a three-unit classroom block at Adenkrebi and the rehabilitation of a store at the Saint John's Grammar School at Achimota.

The other projects are; the construction and completion of a three-unit junior secondary school block at Ashalaja, Children's Resource Centre at Amasaman and a market shed at Dome.

Mr Atto intimated that evaluation report on the Madina-Zongo road under the 'Urban V' Project had been submitted to the Greater-Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council for the award of the contract adding that civil works might begin in August.

The DCE said approval had been given to Messrs Graham Construction to start work on the Katopo-Bodomase and Mayera Akoto feeder roads estimated to cost 323 billion cedis and expected to be executed within seven months.

Mr Attoh stated that construction of new market sheds and stalls at Madina is nearing completion. He said the objective was to help to de-congest the main market in the town.

He said in pursuance of the President's Special Initiative on Cassava, the district has been allocated cassava cuttings to be loaded from Bawjiase in the Central Region for distribution to farmers in the district beginning Thursday, August 1 to Thursday, August 14 and urged interested farmers to contact the District Director of Agriculture for further details.
