Vocal critic of the Ghana Football Association and Kumasi Cornerstones kingpin, Abbey Pobi, has in a departure from his usual posture, lauded the Football Association for naming ex-Chelsea boss, Avram Grant as new coach of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Mr. Pobi commended the committee that was in charge of the selection of the new coach and particularly, the committee that negotiated his terms of engagement led by President of the Association Kwasi Nyantakyi.

Mr. Pobi’s praise for the committee that negotiated the terms of engagement, was particularly in reference to their ability in reaching what seems to him as an affordable salary with the Israeli-born coach, especially judging from his stature, which ordinarily should have ensured he receives a far higher monthly salary and pegs.

Some reports indicate that Grant will take a monthly pay cheque of $50.000 while other reports suggest that it will be as low as $45,000.

Mr. Pobi, who was generally delighted with the capture of Grant advised the Ghana Football Association to give the ex-Chelsea and Portsmouth boss time to build a team of his own, and to avoid setting high targets for the new Coach immediately.

In another twist, Mr. Pobi, advised the President, H.E. John Mahama to appoint someone well vexed in Sports as Sports Minister to help develop Sports holistically and solve the nagging issues in the sector.

Abbey Pobi specifically urged the President to appoint someone like Member of Parliament for Prampram and one time Sports Minister, E.T. Mensah to the position since he was more vexed in Sports and thus better placed to deal with the necessities in the sector than current Sports Minister, Mahama Ayariga.
