Mubiala dismisses DRC's chances

DR Congo defender Cyrille Kitambala Mubiala says his country has no chance of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup finals.

If they are to reach Germany the Simbas must beat South Africa in their final World Cup qualifier in Durban on Saturday by a wide margin and hope that Group Two leaders Ghana lose in Cape Verde.

The 31-year-old, who plays for South African club Ajax Cape Town, told BBC Sport: "It's going to be difficult to qualify for the World Cup because we are playing away to a good side like South Africa.

"It won't be easy to beat them 3-0 and Ghana lose 2-0 to Cape Verde.

"I don't think we have a chance of qualifying for the World Cup."

Both sides will be trying to gain at least one point that will guarantee them a place at the African Cup of Nations finals in Egypt next year.

"A draw will qualify both of us for the Africa Cup of Nations but we will play an open game to try to get the three points," said the 31-year-old.

"I believe the South Africans, who have very good foreign-based too, want to win to make their fans happy.

"So it will be like a war."
