Sunyani, July 4, GNA - A Sunyani Magistrate's Court has remanded two salesmen of Kwartson Ghana Limited in Kumasi in custody for attempting to steal 130 million cedis belonging to the company. Eric Antwi and Kofi Agyeman pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing and are to reappear on July 15. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alex Yartey Tawiah, the Prosecutor, told the court that the accused collected monies from the company's debtors and planned to steal some of the money but a witness in the case got wind of the plot. On June 30 the accused bolted with money they had collected and on reaching a place near Terchire on the Kumasi-Sunyani trunk road they stopped and fired a shot into the car they were using to create the impression that armed robbers had attacked them. ASP Tawiah said they went to Duayaw Nkwanta Police station and reported that they had been attacked. He said the Police went to the scene but they could not see any signs of struggle so they arrested the accused and after investigations charged them with the offence.
