Acting General Secretary, John Boadu, has on Sunday, June 3, rounded up his campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region with a pledge to set up a complaint secretariat, which shall be known as the Situation Room at the national headquarters of the party.
The secretariat, he said, would be responsible for receiving complaints, reports and general communications from the party’s grassroots particularly constituency executives on daily basis for prompt action from the relevant authorities in government or in the party.
He explained that each of the ten regions of the country shall have a special communications desk in the Situation Room responsible for liaising with the various constituencies in the respective regions and thus receiving their reports or complaints for the needed timeous intervention.
Also, each constituency secretary shall be required to submit monthly reports on activities of the party, particularly the relationship between party and local government to national secretariat, through the Situation Room.
John Boadu made these remarks as he was rounding up his 5-day campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region during his interaction with constituency executives and MMDCEs in the region on his message of grassroots empowerment, putting up party offices and making them functional at all times and ensuring administrative discipline in the affairs of the party.
Whilst in Greater Accra, he visited all the 34 constituencies in the region with the exception of Okaikoi South and Adenta which are still yet to hold their constituency primaries to elect executives.
The final leg of his tour of the region, which was also to assess the current state of the party in the constituencies, saw him visiting Ada, Sege, Ningo-Prampram, Kpone Katamanso, Ashaiman, Tema East, Tema Central, Tema West, Shai Osudoku and Madina Constituencies as well as the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, where he climaxed his Greater Accra Regional tour at a well organized gathering in the residence of the hardworking constituency chairman, Robert Bonsu at Haatso.
The National Organizer and aspiring General Secretary of the NPP was accompanied in his Greater Accra tour by veteran politician and longest serving Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the party, Nii Ayittey Boafo, the Greater Accra Regional Organizer, Prince Obeng, Odododiodio constituency secretary, Nii Lankai, and a host of constituency organizers in the Greater Accra region including Samuel Kobina Amoaku (Okaikoi North), Ahmed Tijani (Okaikoi Central), Simon Sekyem (Tro-Bu), Evans Aryee (Korley Klottey), Foster Arthur (Madina) and William Ofori (Ablekuma West).
Also with the team, were the Shai Osudoku Constituency Women Organizer, Hajia Halima and the former Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency, Stephen Oyottei as well as Adjoa Charllotte, the Central Regional Women Organizer of the party. The team was at some point joined by Mame Afia Akoto, former Deputy Communications Director of the party.
