DFID presents uniforms to schoolchildren

Nkoranza (B/A), Jul 4, GNA - The Department for International Development (DFID) of Great Britain, has donated educational material to 50 needy school children in the Nkoranza District. Mr Kwabena Agyeman-Badu, District Director of Education, presented the items including uniforms, bags, exercise books, pencils, erasers and rulers on behalf of the donors.

He commended DFID for its continued support towards the promotion of education in the country and urged the beneficiaries to be punctual and regular at school and to take their education seriously to reciprocate the gesture.

The District Director said the progress and performance of the schoolchildren would be monitored to ensure they remain in school to justify the investment.

Mr. Agyeman-Badu called on parents to support and encourage their children to sustain their interest in education and to regularly interact with their teachers to know on their progress. Mr. Forson Kwame Konadu, on behalf of the parents of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the items, which he said would supplement their efforts and gave assurance that they would support the children within their means. 04 Jul 04
