Mr. Phil John Quartey, the local union chairman of Metro TV has revealed that the over 40 staff of the company resigned on their own volition and their last day at work was November 2, 2018.

According to him, the affected staff demanded a voluntary redundancy from the Group, which was granted by management after they were led by him.

MyNewsGh.com on Monday November 5, 2018 broke the story about how some staff of privately owned free to air television station had parted ways with the company in what has turned out to be a restricting exercise.

Phil John Quartey reveals that no journalist was among the affected staff but made up of security, drivers and a few from the production department.

“There was no journalist but they were from the security department, the transport department, production and the administration, there was no journalist”.

“The company did not lay the workers off, it was an agreement between the union and the owners, JOSPONG Group”.

Checks, however, reveal that the workers opted to be redundancy because they have been working for months without salaries and felt they could not continue under the existing conditions.
