Mon, 9 Mar 1998 Source: --

The President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Mrs. Gifty Affenyie Dadzie has appealed to the government to make good its promise to appoint more women into responsible positions. She said such a gesture, will go a long way to address the gender imbalance in official appointments and also enable government to tap women's potential for national development. In a statement to mark International Women's Day which fell on Saturday, the GJA President also encouraged women to offer themselves for elective and responsible positions, saying Ghanaian women cannot afford to be bystanders at this time in the country's political history. Mrs. Afenyie Dadzie made a special appeal to women to support and show love for each other at their work places and to refrain from being their own enemies. She asked the media to allocate more airtime to women's issues and also highlight positive contributions of women in society to help them treasure their role models.
