Suhum, Nov 10, GNA - Mr Kofi Wayo, a former member of the NPP and the parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East in the 2000 elections, has called on the people of Dokrochiwa in the Suhum/Kraboa/Coaltar District not to make the ''mistake" of voting for NPP in the 2004 election.

Accompanied by the flag bearer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Mahama to the area on Sunday to attend the annual fund raising harvest of the people of Dokrochiwa, Mr Wayo said the NPP has nothing to offer the nation.

Mr Wayo said even though he was a staunch member of the NPP he had been disappointed by the government's lack of attention to the needs of rural areas.

Dr Mahama called on the people to assess their living conditions before going to cast their votes in the 2004 elections. He said the current hardships facing the people left much to be desired and blamed the government for the mismanagement of the economy and advised the people to organise such harvests to raise funds to improve their living conditions.

The MP for Ayensuano, Mr Godfried Okyere, called on the people not to be taken in by what the opponents say about the government, saying Dokrochiwa has its fair share of development projects in the constituency.

He said under the HIPC relief fund two schools have been constructed and one school blockhas also been built under the Social Investment Fund.

The Adoagyiri-Coaltar road is under construction. The District Chief Executive, Mr Michael Kofi Mensah, in a speech read on his behalf expressed concern about the high rate of teenage pregnancies in the district, saying between January and September the Suhum Government Hospital had recorded 128 pregnancies.
