Accra Great Olympics will only add five new players to its squad this season, Mail Sports investigation has revealed.
Mathew Attiogbe of Dwarfs, two others from Sekondi-Takoradi a goalkeper from an Accra club and one other player, whose identity the club is not ready to disclose now. Director of Operations Alloway toured the Central and Western Regions to finalise the deal on players from the two regions.
Olympics will depend more on its loyal players and those to be pardoned.
Like Olympics, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will also sign on about six players. And these are players who can knock in the goals. Kotoko has no problem with its defence and midfield. Their problem is goal-scoring. Osei Kwame, Abedi Sarfo and two others are already in the fold. Herbert Mensah will have to bring his negotiating skills at full play to be able to grab Nana Kofi Frimpong of King Faisal.
Again Kotoko will have to fight hard to sign on one or two players from B/A. Utd. But it is Goldfields who are to be feared. They have combed the country for talents and have also targeted a couple of foreign players, if the deal is clinched, Goldfields will not only be the team to beat in the league but also a force to be reckoned with in next year's continental competition.
One other club which is fast catching up is Liberty Professionals. The club is recruiting according to its need. No more, no less.
One or two of their players would leave the club. But expect them to sign on some talented players capable of lifting the fortune of the club. King Faisal, Bofoakwa, Hasaacas and Ghapoha are doing a sort of elimination by substitution.
Kwaebebrem, Maxbees and Dawu are now on house cleaning exercise. Okwawu Utd of course, have now embarked on strengthening the team. No wonder agents are doing hectic business with the club's management in a bid to provide the team with dash and drive.
