A key figure in the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has called for the immediate dissolution of Ghana's Peace Council, describing it as a waste of taxpayers money.

Solomon Owusu urged presidential hopeful Alan Kyerematen to scrap the council if he becomes president.

"One of the institutions I would encourage Alan to scrap when he becomes president is the Peace Council. It is a total waste of tax revenue," Owusu asserted.

He criticised the council for what he perceives as its failure to contribute meaningfully to the country’s peace efforts.

Solomon Owusu went further to urge the current leadership of the Peace Council, including Prof. Frimpong Manso and Dr S.K.B. Asante, along with the 14-member governing board, to consider dissolving the council themselves.

“I will entreat Prof. Frimpong Manso, K.B. Asante, and the 13-governing board, as a matter of urgency, to plea with whoever appointed them and dissolve themselves. What peace have they brought to this country?” he questioned.
