Former President Jerry John Rawlings is to attend the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Inter Action Council (IAC) scheduled to take in San Francisco, California.

A statement in Accra release signed by Mr Victor Smith, Director of Public Affairs, said the former President, who leaves on Sunday, would take part in a BBC programme on Africa's development in London before proceeding to California.

The IAC is an independent international organisation established in 1983 to mobilise the experience, energy and international contacts of Statesmen, who had held the highest office in their own countries.

The IAC, co-chaired by Former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, has Former US President Jimmy Carter, Former British Prime Minister John Major and Former Mexican President Zedillo as some of its members.

Former President Rawlings, who would be accompanied by his Special Aide, Mr Victor Smith is also expected to grant an interview to the Voice of America Straight Talk Africa in Washington DC, on June 29, 2005 before returning home.
