Yendi Teachers Upgrade Knowledge In Science

Yendi (N/R), July 9, A one-day workshop for 20 teachers to upgrade their skills in the teaching of science at the Junior Secondary School level has been held at Yendi. The workshop, organised by the Northern Regional branch of the Ghana Association Of Science Teachers (GAST), enabled the teachers to find solutions to the common problems confronting them.. The participants, drawn from Yendi, Zabzugu/Tatale, Bimbilla, Saboba/Chereponi and Gushiegu/Karaga districts, were taken through the methodology of the teaching of science. Mr Mohammed Alhassan, Yendi District Chief Executive, called on science teachers to whip up interest in the study of the subject, particularly among girls. He said there was the need for teachers and parents to take a positive stand on the poor performance of senior secondary school students in science subjects.
