Habiba Sinare, the former wife of Ghanaian footballer, Majeed Waris has been making some revelations about their marriage.

Sinare who claims the union was a nightmarish one for her and drew her into depression stated that the biggest challenge faced in the union was the intrusion of the parents of Majeed Waris into their marital issues.

She mentioned in an interview with MzGee that the harassment from the parents of her husband got to the point where Waris' father doubted the paternity of their baby.

She disclosed that the father of the Ghanaian footballer once questioned her sincerity by trapping her into revealing the paternity of their baby who was unborn then.

Habiba Sinare claims that the said conversation became the tipping point for the cold relationship between her and Waris' father.

“He used to call me princess and sweetheart because his wife is Habiba and he really liked me so much or that’s what I thought. I called him and I was so angry because he did something, my ex husband did something and I was telling him. Before I will end the thing he said you tell me, the child is not from him don’t worry. Are you the one to cover up for me?

"They didn’t understand why I just got in the marriage and I got pregnant. Situations happen. It takes just less than a minute to conceive and people don't even know, ” she said.

Habiba also noted in an interview shared by MzGee on September 2024 that another reason for the collapse of their marriage was the footballer's stance that he would not pick his her over his family.

"I always say that my child was meant to come into the world. He asked me, 'Why won't you come back?' I told him, 'I'm done. There's nothing left. I don't feel anything for you anymore.' When I was leaving, he said he wouldn't choose me over his family. That hurt me deeply.

"That sentence still echoes in my life. When he said that, I thought, 'Wow, I wasn't family after all.' When you're angry, you can say things that go too far. Sometimes you don't mean them, but words are powerful. I'm someone who takes words seriously," she said in a video shared by MzGee on Facebook.

Waris and Habiba Sinare tied the knot in 2017 but divorced after just sixteen months and reports suggested that the former Porto striker was denied access to his son by the wife.

There were also reports that Waris' ex-wife hid herself from her husband for sometime which caused controversies leading to the divorce.

Habiba Sinare is the daughter of Alhaji Sinare, former NDC Member of Parliament for Central Ayawaso who has served at Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and a niece to celebrated actress Kalsoum Sinare.
