Gadangme Educational & Cultural Foundation Annual Gala

The Gadangme Educational and Cultural Foundation based in

Philadelphia, PA held its Annual Dinner on December 29th, 2006 at a

location in Philadephia.

Led by its reputatable and influential Chairman; Nii Kwate Quartey 1,

popularly known in private life as Dr. Samuel Quartey, the well

attended event featured many high profile personalities which

included; Philadelphia Police Commissioner; Sylvester Johnson, Judge

Thomasine Tynes, President, Traffic Court, Philadelphia, Mr. Stanley

Straughter (Chairman On Commission Of African & Carribean Affairs)

Her Excellency; Irene Addo, Ghana's Deputy- Ambassador to the US,

Washington, Nii Otu Akwetey IX, Chief Of Katamansu, Accra, Naa Aforkor

Omaeduro II, War Queen-Mother Of Katamansu, Accra) Brigadier George

Ayibonte ( Military Attache, Ghana Mission - New York), Arthur Fennell

(TV News Anchor - Comcast), Henry Nicholas, ( President, Local 1199c

Hosp Workers Union - Phila & S. Jersey), Nii Laryea Afote Agbo, Member

of Parliament, Katamansu & Kpone, Mrs. Barbara Johnson (Apple Storage

& Transportation), Dr. Benjamin Dodoo (M.D New York), Dr. Ralph Smith

(M.D Phila) and many others.

There was a cultural display by students from Imhotep Institute

Charter High School based in Philadelphia. Earlier, the Principal of

the school; Mrs Chris Wiggins who goes by the stool name; Asafoanye

Odamitey Tsotso took the opportunity to welcome guests and also

introduced the choir and the dancers. She had mentioned that some of

the students from Imhotep, a community based public school and African

centered, had travelled to Ghana four times and Nii Kwate Quartey 1 is

Chairman of the School board.

Some of the dignitaries whose name had been mentioned earlier were

also presented with plaques in recognition of their contributions to

the The Gadangme Educational and Cultural Foundation, PA.

Governor Ed Rendell and Mayor of Philadelphia; John F. Street were on

the list of invited dignitaries but could not make it to the event.

The Mayor was represented by his son; Sharif Street.
