Rawlings, Nana Konadu Leave For Cote d'Ivoire

Accra, Aug. 21, - President Jerry Rawlings left Accra today for Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, for a three-day official visit at the invitation of President Henri Konan Bedie. He was accompanied by the first lady, Nana Konadu, Mr Victor Gbeho, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr John Abu, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Dr Kwabena Adjei, Minister of Food and Agriculture. The rest are Mrs Lily Nkansah, Western Regional Minister, Dr Eunice Brookman-Amissah, Minister of Health, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Chief Executive of Ghana Investments Promotion Centre and Dr Tony Aidoo, Director at the National Planning Development Commission. President Rawlings was seen off by the Vice-President, Professor John Atta Mills, Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, Chairman of the Council of State, Ministers, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Peter Nanfuri, Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant-General Ben Akafia and the Ivorian Charge d'affaires in Ghana, Mrs Genevieve Angora. While in Abidjan, President Rawlings is expected to hold discussions with his counterpart on bilateral issues including cooperation in security, trade and commerce, energy and scientific matters. They will also discuss development in the sub-region and regional integration.
