Kumawu (Ash), Jan 30, GNA - The Archdeacon of the Kumawu Archdeaconry of the Anglican Church, Venerable John Kingsley Mensah, has blamed Christians for the continuing injustices and absence of peace in homes, communities and among governments in Africa. In his New Year message which was made available to the Ghana News Agency at Kumawu in Ashanti, Venerable Mensah stressed that "If after 200 years of Christianity in Africa and in particular Ghana, there is no peace and justice among our governments, homes and communities, then we Christians must take the blame. We have not done enough evangelism to influence our society".
He observed that Jesus Christ, throughout his life, preached and taught peace and that it was his hope that the New Year would rekindle Christians to seriously pray for peace and justice in the country. Venerable Mensah charged Christians to make efforts to explain the significance of the birth of Christ to non-believers, stressing that his birth had great marriage with peace.
Emphasising that Christ was 'Prince of Peace', he said, "indeed the main reason for the birth of Jesus in this our world was to restore the peace and justice between God and humanity, broken by sin and consequently to bring brotherhood and understanding on earth among people".
He prayed that Christians would take up the spirit to change the world for the better through the propagation of the word of God.
