Yamoussoukro, April 8, GNA - Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire on Tuesday reaffirmed their determination to strengthen bilateral ties and called on the private sector to intensify relations to derive maximum benefits from the co-operation.

They also agreed to reactivate the Joint Commission for Co-operation that had been in-active since its last meeting in 1997 in Abidjan.

The call was made during a meeting between President John Evans Atta Mills and Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo on the first of President Mills' two-day three nation tour of Cote D'Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Togo in Yamoussoukro.

They also discussed the situation in Guinea and Guinea Bissau. President Gbagbo said the success of Election 2008 confirmed the maturity of Ghanaians to nurture their infant democracy and make Ghana a model of democracy in Africa and the world. President Mills expressed appreciation to the Government and Ivorians for the warm reception and invited President Gbagbo for a reciprocal visit to Ghana.
