Some political parties are unhappy about their exclusion from participating in the on-going Homecoming Summit. The People’s National Convention (PNC), the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) say they did not receive invitations. JOYFM can however confirm that Mr. Dan Lartey of the Great Consolidated Popular Party and Professor Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress were invited in their individual capacities.

The PNC leader, Dr. Edward Mahama (in pic), did not receive any such invitation. In an interview with Joy FM, Mr. Dan Lartey, who attended the opening ceremony yesterday expressed his unhappiness that other political parties were not given the opportunity to contribute to the programme.

Officials of the Summit secretariat say it is the State Protocol Department that has the responsibility of inviting the politicians. Meanwhile, JOYFM learnt that invitation cards sent out for the farewell dinner tomorrow have been withdrawn.

The withdrawal follows complaints that a large number of the participants were not invited for the dinner. To avoid embarrassment, the State Protocol Department decided to withdraw the old cards and issue new ones to participants, especially, Ghanaian expatriates who have paid to participate in the Summit.
