Ghana has ever done well socioeconomically. That was during the the colonial and Nkrumah regimes. Nkrumah's regime would have been unsuccessful if he had no competent and disciplined civil service to back him. For those who care to know the overheead bridge at Nkrumah Circle was designed and constructed by Ghanaians. These workers were mere middle school leavers. The same applies to Job 600. The whole progress turned upside down when Prof Busia came to the scene. He sacked 568 competent civil and public servants and replaced them with useless and incompetent university graduates. Since then Ghana has never known progress. Tell me, which Ghanaian academician has ever been a good leader. Is it Prof Busia, Dr Limann or Prof Mills? You see the place of an academician is the classroom and not the real world. The reason is that these academicians , in the performance of their pedagogic functions, plagiarize a lot and so most of them cannot think by themselves and the very few of them who can do so think like the very children they teach.

Joe, I couldn't agree with you more, let me make this submission that Ghana should not be calling itself the gateway to Africa . The fact is that we don't have the infrastructure and vessels in place to handle and even compete with the West African neighbours in terms traffic, trade readiness, logistics efficiency, and ready and modern systems.
Its sad to say but the World Bank has a report on trade readiness it publishes every other year and out of 155 countries , Ghana is rated 108, very poor indeed . Countries like
On the Benin, Ivory Coast all ahead of us but we keep branding ourselves like we are bettered positioned. But the structures on the ground prove otherwise, We have a non-existent fleet of vessels, poor operational congested berths, small quays, inefficient clearance regimes and so on.
Now the solution like you alluded to should be a practical training of the professionals , exposure to international standards, learn from the best in the industry and adopt policies/mou with giants Singapore on port mngt, world class shipping leaderships. If we wait on Govnt then it will never happen , I believe private enterprise shd be encouraged as they will run for profit and not mere national flagships.
There are possibilities but we as Ghanaians are not ready as I see it, the smallness and littleness is not helping to propel Ghana forward. Buy and sell has taken over , no innovation, no boldness, the same old same old and mediocrity is seen as loyalty.
Our economy is in the hands of foreign entities , the bulk of our major food imports, building materials components are being controlled by a non-Ghanaians, meanwhile there are capable hands to steer these ventures.
Its a debate we are not having instead wasting time on hours of long talk shows that doesn't add one unit of productive earnings to the GDP and GNP . We are not a serious nation.
Let me ask why aren't we making ourselves a business processing destination since we are on the same time zone with the financial hub London. We sit on gold yet we say we are poor because we are not being innovative and have even our raw fruits exports have been banned .
What a nation without the drive to get the job but plenty talk talk, watch TV most of the people who gets the attention to be interviewed are half baked and its all the same recycled policies of 2if the Government shd do this and that" too much classroom talk, we need factories, production lines, value adding processing companies, young and fearless can do spirit.

PREZ KWAME NKRUMAH MADE A SPEECH DURING GHANA INDEPENDENCE DAY THAT “FROM NOW ON WE MUST CHANGE OUR ATTITUDE AND MINDS”. THAT IS, WE SHOULD NOT ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE RULED/DOMINATE BY ALIENS/FOREIGNERS.
GHANA MUST REPENT QUICKLY AND EMBRACE DR. KWAME NKRUMAH AND HIS VISIONS ABOUT GHANA/AFRICA TO HELP GHANA AND AFRICA GET TO THE TOP.
AFRICA MUST QUICKLY EMBRACE HON MARCUS GARVEY, DR. KWAME NKRUMAH, MALCOM X AND THEIR VISIONS FOR AFRICA WITHOUT DELAY TO HELP AFRICA MOVE TO THE TOP. IT IS TOO FRAGILE/DANGEROUS FOR AFRICA TO WASTE TIME IN EMBRACING HON MARCUS GARVEY, DR. KWAME NKRUMAH, MALCOM X AND THEIR VISIONS FOR AFRICA. EVERY AFRICAN/STUDENT FROM THE LOWEST GRADE/KINGDERGARDEN TO THE MOST HIGHEST EDUCATION/UNIVERSITY AND A PROFESSOR MUST/COMPULSORY STUDY HON MARCUS GARVEY’S, DR.
