Dr. Nii Moi, you said 'unlike America’s African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), African governments were given the opportunity to contribute to the formulation of the European Union’s Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs)', I humbly ask you to defend the New International Economic Order (NIEO)proposal which was entirely written by developing countries and entirely accepted by the West. The West went around it and detected loopholes here and there and Africans suffered terribly under that. I bet you, nobody can say today that that agreement did Africa and the rest of the developing world any good. Europe is suffering, and you and I know what a drowning man is capable of doing.

None of these economic recovery strategies in the past have worked. Dr Moi has identified one of the huge problems facing manufacturing as electricity. I think what will solve over 90% of the problem is curtailing corruption. If we are bail out by IMF and we use the money to pay salaries or support gov't budget which included paying our loans HOW WILL THAT BENEFIT US...Let's borrow to build industries which will manufacture what we need and avoid EPA and see how there will be a turn around. God help us!

Stop disturbing us with your long stupid lectures. You guys just tag yourselves in long titles yet cannot think beyond what the whiteman has taught you. What are you trying to imply? opt for EPA as well. What have you done to rectify the problem you saw associated with AGOA? or your job is to advice the man up there who doesn't know the difference between black and white! Nii, we know your kind. Having had an economics degree, i guess from the US and having no job except to teach in a community college, you run off to Ghana and flaunt your PhD to blaze Ghanaians. We are tired of 'book longs' who have nothing to offer except theories that don't work!

What is the meaning of "heighted criticism";or " a crimping of Ghana`s struggling industries"?
Words have meaning;and so I am not, in the least, surprised that the State is being made to pay huge awards because the wrong words were used in contract documents that gave rise to needless misunderstanding, which could have been avoided,if negotiators were more careful about their choice of words. Officials of the Ghana Fire Service, learnt to their dismay,in a recent High Court Judgement that the words "pieces"[pcs] and "pairs"[prs] do not mean the same thing as far as a supply of goods contract is concerned!

Be it EPAs or AGOA will be a waste of time, if we have the same corrupt Ghanaians in the driver seat. A country where corruption has permeated all branches of government is a failed state. The Executive starts the crime, the judiciary sanctions, and the legislature keeps quiet and remain silent and joins to share the loot. The is called the viscous cycle of corruption. No amount of any economic initiative can break this cycle. What Ghana needed is a New Day and a New Order. Rawlings tried and when he couldn't fight anymore joined the corruption bandwagon. Dr Nii moi, you wasting your time, unless you also getting your share of the loot.

How can a senior government official like Dr Nii Moi Thompson claim or even suggest that Ghanaians may not care about faeces on their eggs? What? This is symptomatic of governments disregard for basic public health practices which eventually creates poor health, poor productivity and therefore a poor economy. All Ghanaians should care about the toxins, viruses, parasites, bacteria, and fungus that can be transmitted to cause ringworms, itching, and brucellosis which can abort pregnancy and bring about all manner of fevers. He should retract that statement and rather encourage the adoption of best practices if we are to compete on the global markets. PPP's call to address preventable diseases in our society could also help brighten exports for our farmers.

NII MOI,is here claiming the ADVANTAGES EPA brings surpasse that of AGOA.
AGOA,I BELIEVE HELPS US TO EXPAND IN OUR INDUSTRIALIZATION,BUT WE HAVE FAILED TO TAKE THE ADVANTAGES IT OFFERS.
Beside our CRUDE OIL & OTHER NATURAL RESOURCES LIKE: GOLD,DIAMOND,COCOA,MANGANESE,BAUXITE,ETC,WHAT ACTUALLY CAN WE COUNT ON OR BOAST OF,WITH RESPECT TO FINISHED,MANUFACTURED PRODUCTS,TO THE US MARKET,FROM GHANA?
CRUDE OIL EXPORTS to AMERICA was US4.7b from the SUB-SAHARAN COUNTRIES,IN 2012.
That was about 300% incrase, over the other year.
PETROLEUM ONLY TOOK ABOUT 84% OF THE WHOLE EXPORT TO THAT MARKET.
I will like to submit to MR.NII MOI,that, the AMERICANS have given us a wide room to export our manufactured goods to their market, that attract no duty, from their buyers of it.
We have not taken any advantage in exporting our finished goods to that market, because of the poor quality of our products,as compared to theirs, and virtually producing nothing,to be precise.
How many COTTON PROCESSING COMPANIES,do we have in Ghana,as well as other SUB-SAHARAN COUNTRIES?
We could have led in processed cotton production alone,in the world,if we are very serious in taking up that challenge,BUT:
All raw cotton are shipped to CHINA,EUROPE,CHINA,JAPAN ETC,where we import the same from, though in processed form,as clothing, beddings, etc.
IT'S SAD,WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE ARE ABOUT,WITH RESPECT TO INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS.That's a big problem to an African.
Like he said, power problems is the key to our success in industrialization.
That is 100% true. But how many barrels of water from the volta river enter the sea per second?
I believe that can serve the whole AFRAM PLAINS farmers,in irrigation to plant lots of food products to our markets,as well as exporting some.
Ghana even imports oranges FROM BURKINA FASO.
Isn't that alone shameful?
Someone from the desert has taken keen interest in harnessing the VOLTA RIVER WATER,to plant produce and sell to Ghana.
THAT'S A SMART MOVE FROM THESE,OUR NEIGHBOURS.
We have to take our time in studying what this very EPA is offering us,so we could avoid the mistakes we have been making all the time.
THAT'S MY ADVICE TO MR.NII MOI.
