Ghana’s 1984 Olympian, Reks Brobbey, is bent on reviving the country’s dwindling athletics seven years from now with support from corporate bodies.

Brobbey has exhibited his passion for the sport over the last four years by organizing ‘Ghana’s Fastest Human Competition Project’ which has produced two Olympians in the ongoing Rio Olympics.

Emmanuel Dasor, Beatrice Gyaman and Martha Bissah have all gained Olympiad status and Brobbey believes you don’t need to be GAA President to nurture talents in Ghana.

“God has given every individual a particular task on earth and mine is to put a huge focus on sprints (athletes) to step it up to a different level. I don’t need to become the Association President to deliver.

"I think certain position will limit you from delivering. I am more effective on the outside as a lay man than being an insider”, he told Starr Sports.

According to Brobbey, this year’s final edition of the project will come off at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 10 and expected to discover fresh talents ahead of the next Olympics.
