Believe me Mr. Ace Ankomah; the real cause of their humiliating defeat is their inability to rig the elections again. They successfully stole the verdict of Ghanaians in 2012 and were planning to rig the elections again in the last elections. Unfortunately for them, they didn't know that Ghanaians and the NPP party were fully prepared to face them squarely because NDC had been stealing their verdict since 1992. Although the NDC electoral thieves mastered all the rigging tactics, NPP was very vigilant and fully prepared to prevent them from stealing the verdict again.
The world has changed so much since 1992, and NDC can no longer rely on rigged elections to rule Ghanaians who have been yearning for democracy and fair play.

Ghanaians prefere milk to infrastructure. That's exactly what Dr Kwame Nkrumah observed after carefully reflecting on his down fall. That's the same reason why Kuffour campaign on milk and honey in 2000 to unseat NDC1.Prez Mahama was warned to change his Finance Minister or loss the elections but didn't listen. The Northerners launched the most devastating allégations against the President that could have ended his tenure even before the7th Dec.2016.Above all,NDC promised to build 200 new SHS buildings in 4 years but the promise was not met. I've no surprise that they lost. The same thing will happen to NPP if they fail to build 216 new district factories in 4 years.Thank you.

Look at you, you were the same person saying Mahama will win hands down, now you claim he didn't listen, people like you just piss me off, opportunist who come with predictions after the event. Mahama did not lose because he could not complete the 200 SHS buildings, he lost because he was surrounded by an incompetent team who were greedy, selfish, kleptomanics and disrespectful. They would have collapsed the economy because they were not even clever enough or did not care to see how their appetite for borrowing was crippling the economy, their high taxes killing businesses and AND finally they were not able to rig the election as they did in 2012. Never in the history of Ghana has an incumbent government lost by over 1 million votes. "Kwasia eni ti a na argro asa`"

Some of your above reasons were a contributing factor and some were mere speculation thrown out there for everybody to have his or her take at it. Yes, Ghanaians prefers milk to infrastructure and history has thought us again the cruel candidate she really is on that score. However, what really did my NDC party serious in was her inability to pay workers their supposedly salaries and allowances for close to a year, if not more across board.
Now, who on earth expect these same masses to go to the polls and vote yet again for the same party that is subjecting them to these unpleasant conditions. In short, their message was simple, fuck you and your so-called widespread infrastructure courtesy of their “Kokromotis.”
That, comrade, is the boundless whisper from the grapevine. In fact, the NDC party did this to herself and no one to blame for this, but the NDC apparatchiks.

No country can develop if there is no infrastructures to help boast the economy. if there are no good roads, no good hospitals, no good schools, no good housing etc,how can we develop as a nation? Are we just content with what the colonial masters left behind and what we are thinking of is milk to be drinking? No wonder, that is why we are moving not forward.

I don't think the social media had much to do with their defeat. The most salient reason for their defeat is that the voters register is heavily bloated with ghost names and foreigners from neighbouring countries. That was the trump card the EC/NDC had under their sleeves to rig the elections. However, almost all these foreigners and ghost names (which they intended to use for double voting) did not show up due to the over vigilance of NPP. That's why the national voting percentage dropped precipitously to meagre 60%. If you subtract those no-shows from the eligible voters, we had over 80% national voting percentage in this year's elections.
Therefore, NDC lost because they never had the true population to win any genuine national elections whenever the playing field is levelled.

The NDC last ditch attempt to rig the elections as planned with Charlotte Osei suffered a severe jolt when the system failed. NDC has not been winning elections credibly over the years.
Now this, coupled with the monumental incompetence, the incompetence, the dangerous level of incompetence of John Mahama which at a point became so unbearable he was literally crying, "they say I am incompetent, I am incompetent, what do you know about incompetence? They should tell me what they did, all of them in their offices. In any case my competence is not for me to decide, it is for the people of Ghana to decide" even when he had gone to the IMF for technical expertise-another word for competence, credibility, confidence and a bailout, showed clearly, Mahama was struggling to face reality, at the atrocious and unfathomable level of incompetence of this gov't.
Where is Seth Terkper and Ato Forson? Look, it was a rolling disaster of incompetence and thievery and when it crash landed, Ghana was a goner. Ghana was gone. It was an over the cliff, abyss bound state of catastrophic disaster.
Before Mahama and NDC could say jack, it was over.

Ghanaians were convinced by NPP to believe another term for for Mahama was beyond the limit. Both NDC and NPP had done 8 years each so it was great on the part of NDC to be seeking to go beyond that never mind that there were 2 different personalities. Mahama was even fortunate to share the 8 years with his boss something other Vice presidents never had. And Mahama had in 2008 that infrastructure was the least any incumbent do. This was used against him. The NPP though would also have a tough time in 2020. It is difficult to campaign on economic indices as the party Hseboy served notice they would concentrate on the economy and unemployment. 4 years is just too short for this to improve due to uncontrollable global influence on our economy. It is easier to do infrastructure than improve the economy or eliminate unemployment. We wait to see which is the best strategy after 2020 or 2024.

These are most of the reasons why NDC/Mahama lost the election:
(1) High electricity prices which Ghanaians were crying and felt cheated and after all it was always DUMSOR.
(2)High water bills and yet no water flowing in the mornings or most of the time. Ghanaians were crying and comparing to ex-president Kufor regime where water bills were one-tenth of the price during Mahama regime and yet water was not flowing after paying.
(3) High petrol prices at the pump whiles crude oil prices were falling. And to add insult to the citizens of Ghana NDC members mostly the ministers were getting petrol free.
(4)High school fees both high school and Universities. Comparing to ex-president Kufor regime it was one-tenth of the price during Kufor regime.
(5) High and inflated vehicle insurance. Vehicle owners were crying for help.
(6) ETC
Remember the above mentioned items affect every Ghanaian which also made life unbearable. I cannot believe NDC was only concentrating on instructress. What good it is if you rob Ghanaians with all the above mention things and leave them with unbearable life. These things affects everybody in Ghana and it did show in the election that it was a National referendum or an angry vote.
