Marhaba FM supports hole in heart patient with $7,000

A community-based radio station in Accra, Marhaba FM on Wednesday, May 30th donated $7,000 for the surgery of a hole in heart patient at the National Cardio thoracic Center at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The donation (fully paid medical bill) is to aid the patient to undergo the heart surgery to rectify and redeem the situation.

Presenting the Cheque to the Head of Cardiothoracic Center, Dr. Lawrence Sereboe, Alhaji Baba Abdullai, CEO of Marhaba FM said, his outfit deems it prudent and necessary to support the sick and provide a lending hand to those in need.

“This will not be the end of this gesture, Marhaba FM will continue to call on its cherish listeners to donate and support laudable initiatives when the need arises so we can help other people who may be suffering from a hole in heart or any other ailment,” he said.

Receiving the Cheque on behalf of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Lawrence Sereboah thanked Marhaba FM and its leadership for their support to the center and as Oliver Twist asked for more support from other institutions.

“Thank you for putting smiles on the faces of our patients,” he said.

Essence of the donation

The Head of Marhaba FM, Alhaji Baba Abdulai, said the managers of the radio station felt that it was their social responsibility to raise the money to support the needy.

He said the first time the station reached out to a child with a hole-in-heart condition was in 2012, when it mobilized GH¢12,000 for a two-year-old girl, Sakina, from Bawku, to undergo surgery.

The station also raised GH¢12,500 last year to help another two-year-old hole-in-heart patient, Abdul Rauf Tanko, from Accra, to go through surgery.
