84 years is no mean achievement, and she clocked that today; wife of Ghana’s second president under the Fourth Republic, Theresa Kufour.

Today, October 25, Former President, John Agyekum Kufour’s wife celebrates another mark. The perfect couple have five children together. Ghanaweb joins in the celebration of one of the country’s former first ladies.

Mrs. Kufour, a retired Midwife, has been missing from the public eye for some time now. In 2015, Frank Agyekum discredited the rumor of her death, unfortunately another in August 2019 emerged.

In this case, the Office of Mr. Kufuor debunked, stating in a press release that, “Theresa Kufuor has not passed away. She is alive and currently in her residence at Airport Residential Area.”



Theresa Kufour schooled at Catholic Convent, OLA, at Keta and later moved to London where she was educated as a Registered General Nurse, in the Southern Hospital Group of Nursing. Theresa Kufour is also a State Certified Midwife with a Certificate in Premature Nursing.



John and Theresa Kufour got married in 1962. Their marriage is a perfect example for young couples, one thing that has caught the eyes of Ghanaians is the age difference between the two. Theresa Kufour is four years older than her husband.
