You're right. People have no idea where science or civilization started, yet they condemn everything without investigating. What their ancestors passed to them could be scientific although it sounds superstitious. Drinking milk isn't bad and burying the body could be a way to remove charges accumulated in the body after the thunder strike, similar to earthing. Some of the practices in Africa have hidden scientific effects but because our ancestors couldn't explain them they attributed it to their gods and made it sounds like a ritual rather than a therapy.
