  Taba as it is also called in my region is widely consumed by elderly women. In upper east region of Ghana taba for centuries have been consumed by elderly women whiles the men rap it with paper to smoke it. The plant itself is a traditional plant grown in the valleys or near river where the soil is some how clay. Traditionally taba is among the items that are presented when marrying along with cola and guinea fowl. The green leafy plant is harvested dried to turn to brown processed and taken to market to sell in the open. My uncles smoke taba and a lot when it is farming season. Smokes rounds of the stuff when on his farm. But the extraviginal use that I have never heard of it or maybe is secretly practiced among our women.
