  Not true . Kwame Nkrumah wanted us to be Non - Alligned a d that's why we were tpartmof the initial founding members of that movement . Non - Alligned Movement.

  He Kwame Nkrumah said, we look not to the East nor West , but we look forward to prosperity, economic emancipation, freedom to associate with whomever we choose to do business with, either they are from the East or West . Unfortunately, the events from the continent like , the war in Congo and Apartheid South Africa and those in Angola and elsewhere across the continent forced us to make a difficult choice . Also internal events by the opposition and the forces against our total freedom and economic emancipation within, forced him to chose sides with Russia and China but frankly , Kwame Nkrumah was for the West and East at the same time .
