  During our days and those of us who are from the villages and poor suburbs of the cities are not used to eating rice, we eat rice during the Christmas or New Year.
  So my first contact with jollof which Russians call plof was in 1977, when one of the Ghanaian students cooked it for his birthday party. Russian jollof is the most heavy meal I came across in the world. It contains rice, carrot, green pepper, onion, carbage, potatoe, beaf, lever, kidney and the soft part of the meat of a large ruminant that is used to cook it and its eaten with Russian black bread.
  With Russians it has to go with kvas a type of nonalcoholic drink brewed from the same black bread.
  For a Russian without Kvas there is no jollof.
  So when I return from Russia I see the West African jollof as a poor food.
  The cooks in West Africa and the whole of Africa must give us a proper jollof, because unlike Russia that have only potato as a root food we Africans have various varieties of root foods that can be used to enrich jollof.
  So let's beat the top of the jollof drum where the skin is fasten, than beating the side of he drum.
