  I remember the 1989 Tiamaman square Chinese prodemocracy protests. Goaded by the West the Chinese protesters refused to listen to their leaders to abandon the protests. However the Chinese leadership stood firm and ruthlessly quelled the demonstration with some of their intransigent and misguided citizens being killed. What China has become today clearly shows that leadership should sometimes stand firm even when the west is pushing citizens against their leaders.
