Military rule is abnormal, dangerous, risky, and a threat to peace and human dignity, no matter how the leader tries to be responsible. How can one man decide and control the affairs of the executive, legislature, and judiciary for a country of huge diversity? Even if a situation in a country warrants a military takeover, it should not remain in power for more than six months to pave the way for a constitutional government. We, human beings, have our limitations; hence, absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Burkinabés are indeed going through a serious repressive regime, but they don't have the opportunity to be heard. It is only the military propaganda that has the power to be heard, which is contrary to what is the reality.

Military rule is inherently abnormal, dangerous, and deeply risky. It is a grave threat to peace and human dignity, regardless of how responsible or well-intentioned a military leader may claim to be. How can a single individual legitimately decide and control the affairs of the executive, legislature, and judiciary in a country marked by vast ethnic, cultural, and political diversity? Such concentration of power is fundamentally incompatible with justice and accountability.

Even where a nation’s circumstances appear to justify a military intervention, such an arrangement should be strictly temporary. A military government should not remain in power for more than six months, during which it must pave the way for a return to constitutional and civilian rule. History has repeatedly shown that prolonged military governance erodes institutions rather than strengthens them.

As human beings, we all have limitations. This is precisely why unchecked authority is dangerous. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, no matter the character or intentions of the individual wielding it. Without institutional restraints, transparency, and popular consent, governance easily degenerates into repression.

The people of Burkina Faso are presently enduring a harsh and repressive regime, yet they lack meaningful avenues to express their grievances or be heard. Their voices are drowned out by state-controlled military propaganda, which dominates public discourse and projects a narrative that sharply contradicts the reality of ordinary citizens' experience. What the world hears, therefore, is not the truth of the people, but the carefully crafted voice of power.
