The South-South Community of the All Nigerian Community (ANC) Ghana has issued a rebuttal to allegations of constitutional breaches and irregularities in the group’s recent electoral process.

In a rejoinder signed by its president, Deacon Fred Effiong, the community described recent reports challenging the election as misleading and inaccurate.

The statement was issued in response to a publication that questioned the legitimacy of the ANC Ghana presidential selection process.

According to the South-South Community, "the nomination process was transparent and conducted in line with agreed internal procedures. It said the GH¢500 nomination fee was openly discussed and unanimously approved during a general meeting attended by members, including one of the aspirants, Ophelia Mitchell."

The group also stated that "an electoral committee was set up and announced to stakeholders ahead of the screening process. It maintained that all aspirants were subjected to the same requirements."

Addressing Mitchell’s disqualification, the community said the decision was based on her failure to present a valid Ghana residence permit and an updated international passport during screening held on March 5, 2026.

It further claimed that the required documentation was obtained later in the month, after the screening date.

The statement also rejected claims of interference by the Nigerian High Commission in Accra. It said the High Commission, led by Ambassador Dayo Adeoye, only acted as a neutral mediator after receiving a petition over the process.

According to the South-South Community, stakeholders who attended the meeting agreed that due process had been followed and that Chief David Ukueku was the only aspirant who met the constitutional requirements to contest for ANC Ghana president.

The group further dismissed suggestions of a wider conspiracy involving outgoing ANC Ghana President Dr. Bayo Ashaolu, describing such claims as speculative and unsupported.

Reaffirming its commitment to unity and democratic governance, the South-South Community said it remains dedicated to accountability, fairness and peaceful coexistence among members.
