Assenting to the LGBT+ Bill will.turn Ghana into a backward country. After all, the state has no business in probing what people do in private

  A stupid bill with stupid exemptions. If the bill seeks to criminalize those who engage in the prohibited acts, why is it necessary to have an exemption for those who may defend them in court? Is it not the law in Ghana that all persons charged with a crime are entitled to legal representation in court? Why then is it necessary to spell an exemption for lawyers who may defend them since those lawyers are not the group that the bill proposes to punish criminally? And why this noise about the bill being sponsored by a private member and that it isn't a government bill? And what expertise does the Council of Elders have that the Attorney General doesn't already have, for it to be necessary to refer that bill to the Council of Elders? Your party members while in Opposition chanted daily and taunted President Akufo-Addo to sign that bill into law. Now that you occupy the seat of government, things don't look that easy regarding this bill that seeks criminalize sexual preference and behaviour by consenting adults, and even those that the bill deems to be supporters of that targeted group. Countries have think well before proceeding to criminal this conduct, as much as some of us maty disapprove of their choices. If a bill can't seem to be well-written, it follows that any law that comes out of it will have a difficult time trying to achieve its intended purpose, resulting in many unnecessary lawsuits and costing tax payers money that could have been used to address more pressing needs.
