  That fake shock and anger comes from his own political party, the NPP, a political party that has for years accorded this galamsey kingpin a corrupt platform to harvest lucrative government contracts that he was not qualified to obtain, while protecting him as he engaged in galamsey activities in forest preserves. Some of Wontumi's proceeds from his illegal mining operations and government contracts found their way into the NPP's political war chest. Now that pipeline of illegal money is about top go dry, and the NPP crying not because of some any injustice towards Wontumi, but because the NPP now has to look elsewhere for fat money, and it surely will not be easy. The NPP has no sense of shame as it hypocritically condemns Wontumi's conviction and sentence of twenty years in prison, for no one with a conscience will side with a political bandit who has engaged in illegal mining activities for years, and in the process causing lands to be contaminated and waters polluted. Those claiming to be in shock are themselves crooks and looters of Ghana's coffers.
